Description

Amai Susumaniello Rosé Salento IGP 2023 - Cantine San Marzano

The Amai Susumaniello Rosé Salento PGI 2023 from Cantine San Marzano is a rosé wine of great elegance, produced exclusively with Susumaniello grapes grown in the heart of Salento. This wine represents an excellent expression of the Salento terroir, thanks to its unique organoleptic characteristics and the meticulous care in production.

Wine Characteristics

The Susumaniello Rosé has a pale and lively pink color, which anticipates a fresh and multifaceted bouquet. On the nose, aromas of wild flowers, small red fruits and blood orange emerge, accompanied by a background of Mediterranean scrub and delicate notes of green tea and acacia honey. On the palate, this wine is fine and elegant, with a perfect balance between a light sensation of heat and an acid/savory note that enhances its freshness and drinkability.

Climate and Harvest

The climate of Salento, characterized by hot and windy summers, contributes to the quality of Susumaniello grapes. The harvest takes place manually in the first week of September, during the cool hours of the morning, slightly earlier to preserve acidity and select the best bunches, located higher up and away from the ground.

Winemaking Process

After harvesting, the grapes are subjected to soft pressing with inert gases to prevent oxidation, and the first fraction of must is immediately separated. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in white at a controlled temperature of 14-16°C, thus preserving the fresh and fruity aromas of the wine. The minimum refinement of 3 months in stainless steel tanks helps maintain the freshness and liveliness of the wine.

Tasting Notes

When tasted, the Amai Susumaniello Rosé stands out for its finesse and balance. The pale pink color with lively reflections is a prelude to a complex olfactory experience, with hints of wild flowers, small red fruits, blood orange and a background of Mediterranean scrub. Notes of green tea and acacia honey add further aromatic nuances. In the mouth, the wine is fresh and mineral, with a pleasant acid/savory note that perfectly balances the light alcoholic heat.

Gastronomic Pairings

Thanks to its versatility, Amai Susumaniello Rosé pairs beautifully with lightly structured dishes from land, sea and vegetarian cuisine. It is also ideal to accompany an aperitif based on lightly matured and tasty cheeses and cured meats. Served at a temperature of 10-12°C, this rosé is perfect for any occasion, from an aperitif to a refined dinner.
