Description

The Greppo Biondi-Santi estate is located in the municipality of Montalcino, in the province of Siena, in the Tuscany region. The origins of Brunello di Montalcino date back to Clemente Santi, followed by his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi strong>, will use, in the vinification of Brunello, only grapes from Sangiovese Grosso vines also known by the name Prugnolo Gentile. "Spending one's life working in the midst of nature, in this country blessed by God, is wonderful." (Franco Biondi Santi)

Brunello is most authentic expression of the territory of Montalcino and Biondi-Santi represents its history made of care and craftsmanship, harvest after harvest for over 150 years. Brunello Biondi-Santi is one of the most prestigious and famous Tuscan red wines, a great Italian pride in the world. In the Greppo estate, on marly and skeletal soils, in areas exposed to mild and temperate winds with an ideal micro-climate, the Sangiovese grapes are grown and harvested, giving rise to the famous Brunello Biondi-Santi. An ancient tradition made with skill and accuracy that has been renewed from generation to generation since 1888, always with the same passion.

The 2016 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) Biondi-Santi  it was characterized by a rainy winter followed by a relatively rainy and rather temperate spring. The summer brought warmth and stability, but temperatures generally remained below average. The rains at the end of August - beginning of September prolonged the pre-harvest period, leading to a slow and very balanced ripening of the grapes. In particular, they were able to benefit from a very high temperature range between day and night which favored the aromatic charge. The harvest began on September 19, more than a week later than the average for Biondi-Santi. The 2016 Brunello was produced from a selection of Sangiovese Grosso from the estate's vineyards. The refinement of Brunello 2016 was vinified in vitrified cement containers with the use of indigenous yeasts from our vineyards. It's subsequently aged for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels.
