Description | Gorgona Costa Toscana IGT Bianco 2023: A Wine from the Heart of the IslandThe Gorgona Costa Toscana IGT Bianco 2023 is an extraordinary wine from the Frescobaldi Cellars, the result of the collaboration with the only island- penitentiary of Europe. Born on a small two-hectare vineyard located in a natural amphitheater overlooking the sea, this wine is the expression of the wild and uncontaminated beauty of the island of Gorgona, a place where nature and humanity merge in a unique project of hope and social reintegration. A Unique Territory and a Life ProjectThe Gorgona vineyard, initially planted in 1999 and expanded in the following years, it hosts the Vermentino and Ansonica varieties. These vines thrive on ferrous soils exposed to the east, protected from the winds that shape the microclimate of the island. The project, started in 2012, involves the island's inmates, who work under the guidance of Frescobaldi's expert agronomists and oenologists, learning useful skills for their future reintegration. Climate and Harvest 2023The 2023 vintage was characterized by a unique climate: a dry winter and a mild summer thanks to the sea breeze. The moderate temperatures and cool August allowed the grapes to ripen gradually, with a harvest lasting until the first week of October. This trend guaranteed a perfect balance between freshness and ripeness of the grapes. Tasting NotesAt sight, the Gorgona 2023 has a straw yellow color with golden reflections, brilliant and crystalline . On the nose it reveals a complex and intense bouquet, with Mediterranean notes of helichrysum, savory and rosemary, enriched by floral hints of broom and chamomile. The fruity component offers nuances of yellow-fleshed fruit, exotic fruits and delicate citrus fruits. On the palate the wine is savory, fresh and incredibly persistent, with a taste-olfactory correspondence that leaves an indelible impression. A Symbol of HopeThe Gorgona 2023 is not just a wine: it is a symbol of freedom and rebirth, enclosing all the strength and beauty of its land of origin. Each sip tells a story of nature, tradition and social innovation. Perfect for those looking for a unique and unforgettable experience. |
