The Greco di Tufo DOCG Grotte Colli di Castelfranci 2023 is a noble white wine, produced in the historic Campania region, known since ancient times for its fine vines. Even praised by Virgil in the «Georgics», Greco di Tufo has deep roots in Italian wine history, dating back to the 1st century BC. Its land of choice is Tufo, in the province of Avellino, where the ideal climatic and geographical conditions give this wine its unique characteristics.

Vine variety and production area

This Greco di Tufo is produced exclusively with 100% Greco grapes, grown in the municipalities of Montefusco and Santa Paolina (AV). The vineyards, located at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level, are between 15 and 20 years old and are cultivated according to the Guyot cultivation system. The nature of the soil is clayey and sandy, with south-east exposure, ideal for the growth of these prized grapes. The planting density is 3500 vines per hectare, with a yield of 70 quintals per hectare.

Winemaking Technique

The grapes are harvested by hand in the first ten days of October, in small 15 kg boxes to preserve their quality. This is followed by a long pressing of the undestemmed bunches, allowing the must to ferment at low temperatures for a month. After fermentation, the wine is subjected to a 4-month élevage sur lies, with bâtonnage every two weeks in steel containers. Finally, the wine ages in the bottle for a month, thus developing its complexity and structure.

Tasting Notes

Greco di Tufo DOCG Grotte has a straw yellow color tending towards golden. On the nose it offers a fruity bouquet with hints of ripe yellow pulp fruit. On the palate it is very savory and fresh, with a notable persistence that enhances the mineral and fruity flavours. This wine is sumptuous and intense, perfect for accompanying a variety of refined dishes.

Gastronomic Pairings

Thanks to its freshness and flavor, Greco di Tufo is ideal for accompanying fish, shellfish and seafood dishes. It is also perfect with fresh and soft cheeses, as well as with light appetizers and delicate first courses. Its versatility makes it an excellent wine for both elegant aperitifs and refined dinners, enhancing every dish with its aromatic complexity.
https://www.alberoshop.it/media/catalog/product/2/2/22440.jpg12.505001instock15.99420110.25223.4892Colli Di Castelfranci000https://www.alberoshop.it/media/catalog/product/2/2/22440.jpg/Wines/Wines/White Wines/Wines/Campania wines/Wines/Greco di Tufo2024-06-20T10:40:51+0000
