Iris Falanghina DOC 2023 is a still white wine of great refinement, produced in the Castelfranci Hills. This wine is obtained from 100% Falanghina grapes, grown in the Torella dei Lombardi (AV) area, precisely in the Girifalco Forest. The nature of the clay soil and the altitude of approximately 700 meters above sea level give this wine its unique and distinctive characteristics.

Origins and Characteristics of the Grape Variety

Falanghina is an indigenous Campania vine of ancient origin, descendant of the famous "falerno bianco". The cultivation of this variety in the mountains, in Torella dei Lombardi, allows us to obtain a wine with a dry and strong flavour, with an explosion of refined aromas. The vineyards, located at 650 meters above sea level. and with north-west exposure, are aged between 5 and 10 years and are cultivated according to the Guyot cultivation system, with a planting density of 4000 vines per hectare and a yield of 90 quintals per hectare.

Winemaking Technique

The grapes are harvested by hand in the third ten days of September, in small 15 kg boxes to preserve their quality. This is followed by a long pressing of the non-destemmed bunches, separating the free-run must from the pressed must. The must ferments at low temperatures for a month, keeping the varietal aromas intact. After fermentation, the wine is subjected to a 4-month élevage sur lies, during which bâtonnage is carried out every two weeks in steel containers. Finally, the wine ages in the bottle for a month, thus developing its complexity and structure.

Tasting Notes

The Iris Falanghina has a bright straw yellow color. On the nose it offers a complex and aromatic bouquet, with hints of white pulp fruit and floral notes. On the palate it is fresh and tasty, with a good structure and a notable aromatic persistence. This wine combines freshness and a refined aroma, making it perfect to accompany a variety of dishes.

Gastronomic Pairings

Thanks to its freshness and flavor, Iris Falanghina is ideal for accompanying fish, shellfish and seafood dishes. It is also perfect with fresh and soft cheeses, as well as with light appetizers and delicate first courses. Its versatility makes it an excellent wine for both elegant aperitifs and refined dinners, enhancing every dish with its aromatic complexity.
https://www.alberoshop.it/media/catalog/product/2/2/22442.jpg10.797001instock14.0056018.85233.2086Colli Di Castelfranci000https://www.alberoshop.it/media/catalog/product/2/2/22442.jpg/Wines/Wines/White Wines/Wines/Campania wines/Wines/Falanghina2024-06-20T10:40:51+0000
