Description | With Folies de la Marquetterie, Claude Taittinger wanted to pay homage to the ""Château de la Marquetterie"", where the history of the House of Champagne. He invented a champagne that was created from the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines that grow on the hills around the castle. It had to be a champagne that evoked a feeling of familiarity; a subtle blend of autumn colours, such as those found in the different woods used in the ""marquetterie"". The vines of La Marquetterie cling to the hillside and have been worked on for many years by Benedictine monks, and in particular by Dom Oudart, who is one of the founding fathers of champagne. Each plot is vinified separately, while some crus are aged in ancient oak barrels. The Folies de la Marquetterie cuvée is a first-class champagne from the Taittinger estate. Not only is it obtained from the selection of first pressing juice, but it also has a subtle dominant flavor of Pinot Noir, which adds structure and richness to the champagne. This is joined by Chardonnay for a touch of lightness. The wine then undergoes a period of maturation and subsequent refinement in bottles for 5 years, until it becomes the prestigious and refined champagne that everyone knows. |
