The Cusumano Merlot 2021 is a high quality still red wine, classified as IGT Terre Siciliane. It was produced in the heart of the Sicilian region, more precisely in the central-western part, and reflects the essence of its rich winemaking heritage.

The Vineyard and Winemaking

Made with a 100% Merlot grape variety, the specific location of the vineyard allows for 5,000 plants per hectare, with a yield of 60 hl per hectare. The winemaking process is carefully controlled to maintain the uniqueness of the Merlot. After destemming, the skins are cold macerated for 2 days at 5 °C, followed by fermentation at a temperature of 26-28 °C with frequent pumping over and punching down. This process allows a high concentration of aromas and flavors to be extracted from the grape variety.

Refinement and Characteristics

The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel, followed by a period of permanence on the fine lees for at least 5 months, which helps to create a soft and complex structure. The refinement in the bottle finalizes the process, allowing the wine to achieve greater harmony and balance.

With an alcohol content of 14% by volume, Cusumano Merlot 2021 offers a bouquet of intense aromas, characterized by a perfect balance between soft tannins and lively acidity. This wine contains sulphites, which contribute to its stability and longevity.
