Description | Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2022 St. Michael Eppan: A Wine of AltitudeA Mountain GrapeMüller Thurgau is a renowned vine that prefers the highest altitudes, giving its best up to 900 meters above sea level. This particular characteristic gives it a distinctive fruity aroma and lively acidity. St. Michael Eppan's Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2022 is a perfect example of how this grape variety expresses itself at its best in the cultivation conditions of South Tyrol. Sensory ProfileThis wine has a pale yellow color and light greenish reflections. The nose offers aromas of hay and muscat, while the palate is refined with a pleasant acidity that balances and enhances the fruity notes of the bouquet. Production and VinificationThe grapes for this wine come from vineyards in the peripheral areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina (600–900m), with south-east and south-west exposure. Gravel soils of calcareous origin and porphyritic sedimentary soils are the ideal habitat for the cultivation of Müller Thurgau. The harvest takes place in mid-September, with manual harvesting and selection of the grapes, followed by aging in steel vats. Service and Matching TipsMüller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2022 is an easy-to-interpret wine, which is perfectly suited as an aperitif or to enhance appetizers. Its fruity notes make it the ideal partner for soups such as pea soup with ricotta pralines, asparagus and light fish dishes such as char. The recommended serving temperature is 8-10°. With an aging potential of 3 to 4 years, this wine can be enjoyed young or left to mature to further develop its complexity. |
