Description | If you are a wine lover, you have probably already heard of Mastroberardino: a high quality winery founded in 1878 in the beautiful Campania region of Atripalda. The Mastroberardino family has always had a great passion for the native grapes of the region, and this is the secret of the winery's success. Their attention to the tradition and quality of the products has allowed the company to become internationally famous, thanks to the numerous prizes and awards obtained over the years. One of the finest wines of Mastroberardino is the Naturalis Historia Taurasi DOCG 2014, produced with grapes from a 50-year-old vineyard located on the Mirabella Eclano estate. This wine has great structure and longevity, and is considered an excellent expression of the Irpinia area, an ancient and enigmatic place that also inspired Virgil, the Roman poet, who defined it as ""land jealous of its so many mysteries". The deep and sandy loam soil of volcanic origin, combined with the presence of deep clay and traces of limestone, gives the wine a unique and intense taste. The grapes are harvested manually at the end of October and subjected to a classic red vinification, with a long maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature. Aging takes place in French oak barriques for 24 months, followed by a period of at least 30 months in the bottle. Naturalis Historia Taurasi is perfect to combine with appetizer dishes such as cured meats and aged cheeses , first courses based on meat, mushrooms and truffles, and second courses of elaborate red meats and game. This wine represents the best of Italian winemaking craftsmanship, and if you are a wine lover, you cannot miss it! |
