Description | Pietra Rubra Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC 2021 - A Journey into the Heart of IrpiniaThe Pietra Rubra Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC 2021, produced by the Passo Delle Tortore winery, is a tribute to the Aglianico variety, best enhanced by the unique terroir conditions. Grown in a plot of land at 400 meters above sea level with south-east exposure, this wine takes advantage of the optimal characteristics of the clay-limestone, expressing the full potential of Aglianico. Characteristics and Winemaking ProcessThe harvest, which took place in the third week of October, marks the beginning of a careful winemaking process. After a careful selection, the grapes are subjected to alcoholic fermentation with maceration at a controlled temperature. The aging of 8-10 months in French oak barriques, of which 40% are new, gives the wine remarkable depth and complexity. The result is a lively purple-red color, with a rich bouquet that ranges from blackcurrant jam to blackberries and cherries. On the palate, Pietra Rubra reveals itself to be soft and balanced. The well-integrated tannins are accompanied by a long and persistent finish, with hints of tobacco and spices. These characteristics make it ideal to accompany intense dishes, such as red meats, game and mature cheeses.
