The Riesling of Falkenstein, a winery located in the enchanting South Tyrolean Val Venosta, is one of the most famous Italian labels prestigious ones made with this white grape variety from central Europe. Originally from the Moselle, where it produces some of the best wines in the world, Riesling has found a perfect second habitat in Val Venosta, resulting in one of the most fascinating places in the region.

This extraordinary white wine is work of Franz Pratzner, founder of the Falkenstein winery. Established near Naturno in the late 1990s, Franz elevated Riesling to one of the winery's flagship wines, thanks also to the particular geography and climate of Val Venosta.

The Riesling vineyards are located at altitudes between 700 and 900 meters, on steep slopes and terraces supported by dry stone walls. The midday exposure and the cool climate with notable temperature variations are ideal for this vine. Moraine soils are rich in sand and gravel, including elements such as granite, slate, gneiss, quartz and mica, making them poor but extremely free-draining — an ideal environment for Riesling.

At the end of a soft pressing, the Riesling ferments and matures in large acacia wood barrels, to then complete its refinement with a year in the bottle, before being put on sale.

At sight, the wine has a light yellow color and brilliant reflections. The bouquet is a symphony of aromas: floral, citrus, white pulp peach, green apple, Venosta apricot and delicate honeyed and mineral notes. The palate is characterized by an expressive tension and a vibrant freshness, which concludes with a long and savory finish. Perfect in combination with fish dishes, seafood first courses, delicate white meats or fresh cheeses.
