Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Doc Derthona Scaldapulce is an exceptional white wine produced entirely with Timorasso grapes from a single vineyard, Scaldapulce, located in Monleale.
<h3>Production details</h3>
The vineyard has a south-west and south-east exposure and is located at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The soil is silty calcareous. The vine training system is Guyot, with a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. The harvest takes place at the end of September.
The 2019 vintage was characterized by a beginning of the year with scarce rainfall, temperatures above the seasonal averages until March, followed by rains in April which slowed down the growth of the vine. June was among the hottest in the last decade, with maximum temperatures approaching 40C, while July brought rains and cooler temperatures. The crucial months of August and September brought favorable conditions for the ripening of the grapes, allowing the harvesting of fully ripe Timorasso grapes.
The vinification involves a cold maceration followed by a static decanting in steel and a spontaneous fermentation in cement at about 17°C for 25 days. The wine is then aged in steel on the fine lees for 18 months to enhance the vertical notes, followed by further aging in the bottle for 7 months.

Derthona Scaldapulce 2019 has a golden color with greenish reflections. The nose is intense and varied, with a marked presence of minerality. In the mouth it is vertical, sapid, wide, structured and very persistent. It is a wine that lends itself well to long aging.

Derthona Scaldapulce goes perfectly with rich recipes, fish dishes such as anchovies and scallops, but also with Piedmontese appetizers such as Russian salad and veal with tuna sauce.
