The Damilano winery, historically known for its fine red wines, celebrates the territory of Serralunga d'Alba with its latest creation: a brand new Barolo DOCG. Debuting with the 2019 vintage, this wine represents an authentic expression of the territory, a region rich in personality and an inimitable character, which has given life to iconic Barolos.

The Philosophy of Damilano and the Role of Innovation

Guido Damilano states: "Research and experimentation are fundamental elements of our production philosophy". This new Barolo DOCG, austere, long-lived and with noble aromas, was born from this philosophy and the incessant search for innovation. It enriches the Damilano collection with a new distinctive note of Serralunga d'Alba, a territory whose unique characteristics have been meticulously enhanced in every single parcel. Damilano's goal is to welcome the countless nuances of Barolo, celebrating it in a bottle that tells the peculiarities of the place, because the wine is a rediscovery of authenticity.

The Terroir of Serralunga d' ;Alba

The excellence of Serralunga d'Alba is determined by the particular composition of the soil: the vines grow on a Lequio Formation, originating between approximately 13.8 and 11.6 million years ago, which gave rise to silty soils, alternating layers of clayey marl and sand. It is here, about 260 meters above sea level with southern exposure, that Damilano's Barolo di Serralunga DOCG is born. This Barolo wine presents itself as a decisive, solemn wine, with an intense and lively colour, penetrating aromas, minerality and marked tannins, indicative of a broad evolutionary potential.

The Notes Tasting notes of Nuovo Barolo DOCG

With an intense garnet color, this red wine from Piedmont offers the palate a full, juicy, harmonious and balanced tasting. The sober tannin and well-defined structure accompany an aromatic bouquet of small red berries, raspberry and cherry, with a hint of spicy and minty notes. The vinification took place in a single batch, with fermentation at a controlled temperature for 20 days. Subsequently, the wine matured for 24 months in large barrels and refined for 12 months in the bottle.

3000 bottles and approximately 100 Magnums were produced from the Barolo di Serralunga DOCG of Damilano. With its debut, the Damilano winery continues to celebrate and enhance the territory of Serralunga d'Alba, offering a new interpretation of the magnificent Barolo wines.
