Description | Tignanello 2014: A Vintage of Unique CharacterThe 2014 vintage of Tignanello represents one of the most refined wines of Toscana IGT, highlighting the great care and attention dedicated to this iconic wine. Born in the homonymous vineyard of Tenuta Tignanello, located on 57 hectares of land with south-west exposure and calcareous soils of tufaceous origin, Tignanello 2014 combines the typicality of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes with a carefully studied winemaking process. Climate and HarvestThe 2014 vintage saw a mild winter with temperatures above average, which brought the budding of the vines earlier. Spring continued with a dry and mild climate, ideal for optimal flowering and fruit setting of the grapes. During the summer, frequent rains slowed down the ripening of the bunches, which began to slow down. then rebalanced in the first weeks of September, thanks to warm and sunny days. The harvest is started between the second half and of September and early October, preceded by a careful green harvest to ensure the best quality of the grapes. These conditions allowed for careful harvesting, allowing the grapes to best express their varietal character. Winification and RefinementThe winemaking process is was conducted with extreme care. Before harvesting, defoliation and thinning operations were carried out in the vineyard, followed by a rigorous manual selection of the grapes. Fermentation is took place in truncated cone tanks, where the musts were processed to preserve the freshness of the aromas, the intensity of the color and the delicacy of the tannins. After the separation of the skins, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrique, enhancing its finesse and aromatic richness. The refinement took place continued for 12-14 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, some new and others first used. The lots were refined separately based on the variety, to then be assembled a few months before bottling, guaranteeing a harmonious and complex wine. History and TraditionTignanello is one of the most famous and innovative in Tuscany. Its history began in the 1970s, when it became the first Sangiovese aged in barrique and one of the first modern red wines in the region to be blended with grape varieties. international, such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Since 1975, production no longer includes white grapes, and since 1982 the composition has been remained unchanged. Tignanello is produced only in the best vintages, making each bottle an authentic expression of the territory and the vintage itself.
