Description | Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2021The Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2021 is a red wine of great elegance and complexity, which best embodies the winemaking tradition of the Antinori family. This DOCG reserve is obtained from a selection of Sangiovese grapes and other complementary varieties grown in the best vineyards of Chianti Classico, representing a tribute to the historic label and to the wine that has borne this name for almost a hundred years, produced for the first time in 1928.< /p> Wine CharacteristicsThe Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2021 has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with fresh notes of pomegranate, cherry and orange peel, accompanied by almost spicy tones of ginger. The bouquet is completed with a floral background of lavender, rose petals and delicate balsamic hints of white musk. On the palate, the vertical entry develops into a savory and tasty taste, while the sweet tannins accompany an intense and relaxed finish, between warm notes of cocoa. Climate and Harvest2021 in Chianti Classico started with a winter that was not too cold, but rather rainy until the end of March. Spring saw favorable conditions which brought forward the budding of the vines, which was subsequently slowed down by a cool and dry April. The months of May and June, regular and not too hot, guaranteed good flowering and fruit set thanks to some rain. The summer continued with a hot and dry climate, especially in August, characterized in the final period by some rain which allowed the plants to start the ripening process as best as possible. The months of September and October were ideal, with sunny days, cool and breezy nights, allowing the grapes to ripen in optimal conditions. The harvest began with Sangiovese in the second half of September and ended in the second week of October with the other complementary varieties. Winemaking ProcessThe grapes, after being destemmed and softly pressed, were transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. Maceration lasted approximately 10-14 days, with mechanical interventions aimed at the controlled extraction of aromas, structure and sweet tannins. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, carried out in stainless steel tanks for the Sangiovese and in second and third passage barriques for some batches of the other varieties, the various batches were assembled and continued aging in wood, mainly in large barrels and partly in barrique, until spring 2023. Bottling began in July 2023. Historical DataVilla Antinori is not just a wine, but an idea that combines experimentation and evolution with a profound respect for historical tradition. With the inauguration of the Antinori winery in the Chianti Classico, the Antinori family wanted to reinterpret a Tuscan classic through a Riserva that combines delicacy, decisiveness and elegance. This wine is a tribute to almost one hundred years of history, produced for the first time with the 1928 vintage. Thanks to its structure and complexity, the Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2021 is perfect for accompanying red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses. It is also excellent with traditional Tuscan dishes, such as Florentine steak and stewed wild boar. Its versatility makes it an excellent companion for elegant dinners and special occasions, enhancing every dish with its refinement and depth. |
